SpongeBob Squarepants fans, Bikini Bottom is about to get bigger in the best way!
Sandy Cheeks is getting her own spinoff movie!

The upcoming movie will be hybrid feature between a traditional animation and a live-action movie and will be directed by Liza Johnson, Collider reports.
The beloved squirrel’s spinoff movie has yet to be titled but longtime SpongeBob writer Kaz has co-wrote the script with Tom J. Stern who recently wrote, directed and produced the live-action special – SpongeBob Appreciation Day.

As fans will know, Sandra “Sandy” Cheeks was created and designed by SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg.
A marine biologist, Sandy is one of the 10 main characters from the franchise and is a close friend of both SpongeBob and Patrick Star.
The thrill-seeking scientist and inventor from Texas, USA, who is frequently seen with her atmospheric diving suit, lives underwater in Bikini Bottom where she hangs out with Karen, Pearl and Mrs. Puff while going on many crazy adventures with SpongeBob and Patrick.

There’s has been no word yet on what a Sandy Cheeks spinoff will be about but we’re excited to see more of the marine biologist-squirrel!
