Hold on to your broomsticks, Wicked is coming to the big screen, finally!
Musical fans will be excited to know that another Broadway adaptation has been given the green light and a release date!

The long running Wizard of OZ spinoff musical first hit Broadway in 2003 and will be reaching cinemas on 22nd December 2021. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be based on Gregory Maguire’s book, “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Stephen Schwartz, who composed the music for the original Wicked musical and screenwriter, Winnie Holsman, will be adapting the story for the big screen. The movie will be directed by The Crown and Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close’s Stephen Daldry, and will be produced by Marc Platt.
