We all remember the rollercoaster that was Rachel and Nick’s love story in Crazy Rich Asians, especially with the divide of wealth and status stemming from the affluent Young family.
However, while we watched the couple’s love story unfold, we couldn’t help but to also pay attention to Astrid Leong’s iconic confrontation with her philanderer husband at the very end of the movie and we definitely wanted more.

And we are definitely getting more of Astrid in the upcoming spin-off of Crazy Rich Asians!

Previously, the Crazy Rich Asians sequel was reported to be in development and will feature Kevin Kwan’s second book in the trilogy, China Rich Girlfriend.
The spin-off will also be tied to this book and will tell the story of Astrid (played by Gemma Chan), the revelations within her relationship with her husband and her reunion with her first love, Charlie.
Crazy Rich Asians took the world by storm back in 2018 with its all-Asian ensemble cast and was filmed in multiple locations around Malaysia and Singapore. It was also the highest grossing romantic comedy of the 2010s with more than $238 million box office worldwide.
