Let's face it. Loki's death was super tragic and untimely in Avengers: Infinity War. Most fans couldn't even wrap their heads around his death by the end of the scene. But for the members of the production crew, Loki's death came as a surprise!
During production of the film, Marvel Studios produced a fake Infinity War script in which Tom Hiddleston's Loki survived and escaped death at Thanos' hands. This was done to throw fans off and ensure that spoilers were not revealed.

Executive producer, Trinh Tan, revealed in The Art of Avengers: Infinity War, that members of the production crew were given fake scripts. And what would the fake script entail?
She explained, "We created a version of the script where Loki would get away in an escape pod at the beginning of the movie."
"When we started shooting that particular sequence, we had crew members who were thoroughly confused. We had to let them know that those were fake versions of the script that they read," she added.

But the bigger question is, is Loki really dead? The God of Mischief has been known to fake his death and this could just be another one of those instances right?
At the ACE Comic-Con, Tom discussed the various theories surrounding Loki's true fate. He said, "I've heard some amazing theories about this."
"I was in a park in London a couple of weeks ago, and some guys come and say 'Hi', and they asked me the same question," he added.
"They said, 'Hey, listen, we need an answer to this question. All the other times Loki's died' - there have been a few - 'he stabs with his right hand. And now he's stabbing with his left hand.' I was like, 'That's incredible attention to detail!'"

Although Tom has been spotted on the set of Avengers 4 - which has recently wrapped filming - it is believed that he was only involved for flashback scenes. We're hoping it's more though.
But what if Loki had survived and escaped? Could he have helped save the Avengers? For now, we can only speculate.
