Witches, wizards, squibs, muggles, fantastic beasts and more, gather round because the moment we’ve been waiting for is almost here!

As most fans will know, the cast of the Harry Potter film franchise will reunite for a 20th anniversary special, the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts on 1st January.

It’s been RIDIKULUS-LY long since the full cast were together again and now that it’s actually happening, we’re sure we can create the world’s best patronus by how happy we are with the news!

Though there have been many appearances by cast members over the years, the reunion will be the first time that the Golden Trio will be together again since the beloved franchise came to an end - the trio of course being Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.

Other cast members who will also be joining the reunion include Tom Felton, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Matthew Lewis, Evanna Lynch and Ian Hart.

The reunion’s official trailer showed the cast catching up with one another and reminiscing about the good ol’ days on one of the world’s most famous franchises. As nostalgia hit the cast (and us), they reminisce about all the moments they had while making the film — the good, the bad and the ugly.

According to advance excerpts on the reunion, Daniel Radcliffe shared about how his life will always be connected to the Potter movies.

“Every part of my life is connected to Potter and to Leavesden,” he said. “My first kiss is connected to someone here, my first girlfriends were here...It all spirals out from the Potter set somewhere.”

The 32-year-old actor also recalled a funny moment of him and Ruper Grint (Ron Weasley) and how they both hated being told to maintain their characters’ shaggy looks until the final film was completed.

“We’re like, ‘No, no, no, no, no. You’re not leaving us like this? We’re supposed to be becoming teenagers and dating girls in this film! That’s not what it’s going to be, is it?’ So, I think we were pretty devastated as we realized that it was,” he said.

Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, shared that she was overwhelmed with emotion at the reunion after so many years.

“Some of us haven’t seen each other for years. So it’s just been a joy. An unexpected joy,” she said.

One thing that surprised us was when Emma shared that she, at some point while filming the movies, seriously considered quitting her role as Hermione Granger. We’re sirius-ly glad she didn’t!

We don’t know about you, but we can’t think of other actors who can play Hermione as well as Emma Watson can!

"I think I was scared. I don't know if you ever felt like it got to a tipping point when you were like... 'This is kind of forever now'.” the actress said.  "The fame thing had finally hit home – in a big way. No-one had to convince me to see it through. The fans genuinely wanted me to succeed and they all genuinely have each other's backs. How great is that?"

Rupert Grint revealed that he felt the pressure of being in Harry Potter too saying "I also had kind of similar feelings to Emma, kind of contemplating what life would be like if I called it a day.”

“But we never really spoke about it, I guess we were just kind of going through it at our own pace, and we were kind of in the moment at the time. It just didn't really occur to us that we were all probably having similar feelings," Rupert said.

Meanwhile, Gary Oldman, who played Sirius Black, said that getting back together was a “weird experience” for him.

“You met them as kid, and now some of them are married and they’ve got kids of their own,” the actor said.

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, will premiere on HBO Max on New Year’s Day (Jan 1, 2022) so be sure to set your alarms!

We’re counting down the hours till we see the Golden Trio and the rest of the legendary cast reunited to recount their adventures from two decades ago.
