The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively revealed that Indonesian actor and martial artist, Joe Taslim has won the role.
Joe will be taking on the role as the super-powered fighter in the live-action adaptation of the classic video game.

The actor has some big shoes to fill as one of the original characters that featured in the 1992 game who is well known for his ice power and his rivalry with fellow combatant, Scorpion.
Joe is the first actor to officially sign on to the Mortal Kombat movie which is set to be released in 2021.

As of this moment, the plot of the movie is still kept under wraps. But as we know, the iconic video game revolves around a massive roster of character fighters from different realms, we’re excited to see who else will be cast in the movie.
Under his Atomic Monster banner, James Wan will be producing the upcoming movie, which will be directed by Simon McQuoid and written by Greg Russo.
