Fans don’t often get what they want when it comes to movies but after a long-running campaign to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, Justice League fans are finally getting what they deserve!
Director Zack Snyder announced the news during a watch party for 2013’s Man of Steel and revealed that the new version of the movie will be released in 2021 on HBO Max.
“It will be an entirely new thing, and, especially talking to those who have seen the released movie, a new experience apart from that movie,” he said.
Zack revealed that he has yet to see the theatrical release cut of the movie that was steered by The Avengers director Joss Whedon when Zack stepped down during the post-production after the death of his daughter.
You probably saw one-fourth of what I did," Zack said.
The theatrical release was poorly received with negative reviews and fans have been petitioning for Snyder’s cut after rumours spread that the original version that Zack envisioned was darker and more fulfilling.
Justice League stars Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck and Ray Fisher also showed their support during the second anniversary of its release in 2019 by tweeting the hashtag.
The new version will have the original crew brought together to realise their version of the movie and it’s rumoured to cost between $20-30 million dollars with more visual effects and possibly reshoot and additional dialogues with the cast.
Snyder’s cut of Justice League is also said to either be a nearly four hours long movie or a six-chapter TV deal!
Aquaman’s star Jason Momoa previously said that he had seen the Snyder cut of the film and that the public “needs to” see it because he was “very, very happy” to get to see them.
Either way, we’re excited for the news and can’t wait to see the new version of the movie, and seeing how Batman V Superman’s extended cut was greatly praised by fans, we have no doubt Zack Snyder can deliver what fans love!
