While the world has been focused on Avengers 4 and the official departure of Chris Evans as Captain America, Marvel has been secretly working on setting the stage for Black Panther 2.
As reported in The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has quietly signed on Black Panther's director and co-writer, Ryan Coogler, to write and direct the second film a few months ago!

After the first Black Panther blew up the box office and made over US$1 billion (RM4 billion), a sequel was obvious. Marvel Studios' boss, Kevin Feige, stated shortly after the release: "[I have] nothing specific to reveal, other than to say we absolutely will do that.” "One of the favourite pastimes at Marvel Studios is sitting around on a Part One and talking and dreaming about what we would do in a Part Two," he joked.
"There have been plenty of those conversations as we were putting together the first Black Panther. We have ideas and a pretty solid direction on where we want to head with the second one," he added.

According to sources, the plan at this point is to have Ryan write the script next year and for production to begin in either late 2019 or early 2020. No official announcement has come from Marvel or Disney regarding the release date of Black Panther 2.
Ryan is currently developing a drama called Wrong Answer, starring Michael B Jordan, and will also be executive producing Space Jam 2 starring LeBron James.
It's a long wait, but we know it'll definitely be worth it!
