Meet the Filipino-Korean actress, Ella Jay Basco, who's set to play Batgirl in DC’s upcoming Birds of Prey movie!

Ella will be playing the character of Cassandra Cain aka Batgirl from the comic in the upcoming DC Extended Universe (DCEU) movie!

“The audition process was a month long and I had to go in about 5 times,” she revealed in an interview. “I watched a bunch of movies, practiced my martial arts skills, and even read some comic books about Cassandra Cain to prepare.”

“I was immediately in shock and couldn’t believe I booked it!  I worked really hard on this role and got emotional because I wanted this part so bad!  I mean I totally cried. I knew from that moment on, my life would change forever.”

Her uncle, Dante Basco, that voiced the character Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender recently shared a video of Ella singing and we have to admit, she’s really good!

The Harley Quinn spinoff will see the return of Margot Robbie and follow the story of Harley after she breaks up with Joker and decides to join superheroes like Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save a young girl from the evil crime lord, Black Mask in Gotham City!
