If you grew up watching Sharkboy and Lavagirl and loved it, we’ve got good news for you because they’re back!
The duo superheroes are back in a sequel to 2005’s The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D movie and they are now parents!
The characters played by Taylor Lautner and Taylor Dooley in the first movie are shown to be adult versions in We Can Be Heroes and they even have a daughter named Guppy that’s half shark (played by Bird Box star Vivien Lyra Blair.
The adult versions of the iconic duo will be played by J.J. Dashnaw as Sharkboy and Taylor Dooley reprising the character Lavagirl. (No, Sharkboy will not be played by Taylor Lautner.)
“Sharkboy and Lava Girl show up as superhero parents who now have a daughter who has shark and lava powers," director Robert Rodriguez previously said in July.
Many fans are excited to see the return of the superhero duo they grew up watching while others are upset that Taylor Lautner is not reprising his Sharkboy role.
The sequel movie will follow the story of a team of superheroes called The Heroics who are kidnapped and in need to be rescued by their super-powered kids.
“A lot of families have spent a lot of time together,” he said in reference to the pandemic. “I’ve been getting calls from all kinds of studios: ‘Reboot Spy Kids.’ ‘Reboot Sharkboy.’ Of course they want to. They’re all sitting at home with their kids.” This seems like the next best thing.
The movie is not short of star power either with cast members that include Pedro Pascal, Priyanka Chopra, Christian Slater, Sung Kang, Boyd Holbrook and more!
The movie is scheduled to be release on 1st January 2021.
