SpringHill Entertainment recently announced on their social media that the sequel to Space Jam will be making its way to the big screen on 16th July 2021!
The follow-up to the 1996 hit movie that starred NBA legend, Michael Jordan, will see basketball icon, LeBron James starring with Bugs Bunny by his side. LeBron will take on the position of “small forward” while Bugs co-stars as “point guard.”
Black Panther’s Ryan Coogler will be on board to produce the upcoming movie while Terence Nance will take on the director’s role.
The second movie was first announced with LeBron as the star back in September 2018, but no release date was given.
LeBron confirmed the 2021 release date with The Hollywood Reporter and went on to talk about Space Jam 2 saying,
“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie. It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams.”
Production on the movie is slated to begin this year.
