Fans have been hoping for a live-action Spider-Verse movie since the release of Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie and it might actually happen now!
Actor Jamie Foxx recently teased that he will be reprising his role as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but with a different take of the character in the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie!
“Tell Spidey let’s run it back!... super excited to [be] part of the new Marvel Spider-Man new installment… can’t wait for y’all to check the new one. And I won’t be blue in this one!!”, he wrote in his now-deleted post.
Fans are excited for his return but one thing caught their attention! One of the pictures that was posted showed three Spider-Man standing above the city skyline and staring at what appears to be an electrical storm, teasing the possibility of a Spider-Man crossover!
Seeing as how he was the villain in Andrew Garfield’s version of Spider-Man and how he will be in the new movie, fans think they might finally be getting a Spider-Verse movie starring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland!
Perhaps Jamie Foxx’s Electro somehow came through to Tom Holland’s world (the MCU) and Andrew Garfield would follow, and perhaps other villains from Tobey’s would appear too, leading to a multiverse movie.
It’s not entirely out of the question though, seeing as to how Sony’s Tom Rothman expressed interest in continuing a Spider-Man deal with Disney.
“I hope so,” he said. “I think this was a classic win, win, win. I think it was a win for Sony, I think it was a win for Disney, and I think it was a win for the fans.”
This is not the first time Sony’s casting choice has confused their fans, with J.K. Simmons reprising his J. Jonah Jameson role from the Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man film series, in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Michael Keaton, who played Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming appearing in Sony’s Morbius trailer.
