Everyone was shocked when news about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man being pulled out from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to return to Sony broke. But it has just been confirmed that Spider-Man will be back for a third movie in the MCU!
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have officially struck a new deal and confirmed that Tom Holland will reprise his role as the web-slinger for a the third MCU Spider-Man movie!
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” says Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, who will also return to produce the movie.
“Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse, you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
Disney previously wanted a 50/50 cut on all Spider-Man films revenue instead of the initial 5 percent deal, and that lead to the fallout between the two companies and Spider-Man being cut from the MCU.
Spider-Man would return to Sony’s new Spider-Man universe with characters like Venom if the new deal was not made but fans have been campaigning for Spider-Man to return for more MCU movies!
And they've been going crazy over the announcement of Spider-Man’s return to the MCU!
The movie is set to be released on 16th July 2021 and we can’t wait to see Tom Holland back as the web-slinger!
