Spider-Man might not be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon but Sony is already making a Spider-Man spinoff movie!
It has been reported that Sony is developing a Madame Web spinoff movie that will be written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the same writers for Morbius the Living Vampire!
Madame Web is a character from the Spider-Man universe called Cassandra Webb. She’s born blind and paralyzed, but has powerful psychic and precognitive mutant abilities. With her psychic and future visions, she helps Spider-Man locate enemies and solve crimes.
She is also connected to a life support system with tubes shaped like spider-webs, giving her the name Madame Web. Cassandra later passes on her powers to Julia Carpenter, a second Spider-Woman in the comics.
While there is still no release date and update on what the movie plot will be, it should come after Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spinoff movie, Morbius the Living Vampire, that is scheduled for a July 31, 2020 release.
It is unsure whether Tom Holland will be completely back to the Sony Spider-Man universe but we certainly hope to see him make an appearance in Venom 2, Morbius the Living Vampire and Madame Web!
What are your thoughts on Sony’s plans for their future Spider-Man universe movies? Tell us!
