The Mask is definitely one of those movies that is so outrageous and funny, and that’s thank to Jim Carey’s hilarious performance in the movie! And now the creator is planning to make a female-reboot!
The Mask movie was an adaptation from the famous comic of the same name created by the founder of Dark House Comics, Mike Richardson, and now he wants to make a female-led reboot!
“I’d like to see a really good physical comedian [in the role],” he explained. “I have one in mind, but I’m not gonna say her name. We have to do a lot of convincing for this particular actor, but we’ll see.” said Richardson, “You never know what’s coming in the future. We have some ideas.”
Mike said that the rebooted film will be closer to how the comic books are and will be a darker and more unhinged version of the character.
The Mask tells the story of Stanley Ipkiss who stumbled upon a magical jade mask that transforms him into a mischievous superpowered being with a green-skinned bald head.
“I’d like it to be another character film about a person dealing with absolute power,” he continued. “The whole theme of The Mask was we all say what we would do if we had absolute power, just like Stanley Ipkiss. When we get absolute power, we often resort to the most petty of endeavors and it’s overcoming our human nature and using the power for good.”
