The world of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has just added a delicious treat to its upcoming prequel in the form of Timothée Chamalet and we’re ready for a world of pure imagination!

Previously, it was reported that both Timothée and Tom Holland were being eyed for the role of Willy Wonka in an origin movie about the chocolatier.
Now, Deadline has confirmed that the iconic role that was brought to life by Gene Wilder in 1971’s Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, has landed on Timothée’s shoulders.

In the upcoming movie, fans will be treated to a story that chronicles the life of Willy Wonka before he became the world’s renowned sweet-maker with his own chocolate factory.
Deadline shared that Timothée was a top contender for the role and has been for some time. Luckily, he was able to overcome scheduling conflicts and snagged the role.
According to sources, the actor will be performing in several musical numbers and showing off his singing and dancing skills on a grander scale for the first time with this movie.

Titled Wonka, the prequel is set for release in March 2023 and will be directed by Paul King, who brought the Paddington movies to life.
Not much else is known about the upcoming movie, except that it will revolve around the chocolatier’s origin.
