After leader CL finished her solo performance which included her top hits such as Spicy and Hello *******, the lights focused on center stage where she was joined by Sandara, Minzy and Bom - forming the disbanded quartet for the first time on-stage after seven years!
Oh the goosebumps!
The familiar electronic beats of their 2011 hit “I Am The Best '' played along with the audience’s booming cheers as the four powerful ladies strut into position.
Their live-stream was shared hundreds of times across social media where fans all around the globe rejoiced at the glorious yet nostalgic stage (We mean, who wouldn’t?!)
The four legendary queens debuted in 2009 under YG Entertainment and were known best for their experimental music and of course, fashion. Ever heard of the girl crush concept? Well, here’s your pioneers!
Rolling Stone shared that 2NE1 was "undeniably one of the most influential acts" of their era, broadening the K-pop genre and style for girl groups since.
They made history in 2012 as the first Kpop girl group to embark on a world tour, with many loveable hits like “I Am The Best”, “Lonely”, “I Love You”, “Fire” and more.
While 2NE1’s reunion may be the talk of the night, 88Rising’s lineup definitely made a statement for Asians at Coachella with other powerful acts such as Jackson Wang, Utada Hikaru and Niki who performed a beautiful cover of “Sempurna” that definitely touched the heartstrings of Indonesians and their South-East Asian family alike.
Though we weren’t at Coachella, we can’t believe that we were able to witness 2NE1’s reunion (even if it was just on social media)! We definitely need more!
