While everyone was eagerly anticipating BTS and Charlie Puth's performance at the 2018 MBC X Genie Music Awards, not everyone was happy by the end of it.

If you missed the performance, here's what went down that have Netizens criticising and speculating. Charlie kicked of the highly anticipated performance with his breakout track, "See You Again," which was then followed by a duet of "We Don't Talk Anymore" by Charlie and BTS' Jungkook. The remaining members then joined the duo on stage where they all performed "Fake Love" together.

If you've got a keen sense of sound, you would probably realise that the vocals aren't as great as they could have been. The awkward vocals and sometimes rather shaky and off-key singing caused quite a few people to cringe while watching. It definitely seemed like all the performers were aware that something wasn't right.

Fans quickly defended the boys, saying that they probably needed more vocal rest after coming off their world tour. Others note that they are only human and mistakes happen. But some went off on a tangent, blaming the "talent-less" BTS.

However, an outside factor did play a part in the performance that many have called "a flop."

According to BTS's producer, DOCSKIM, "the wrong sound mix was played to BTS during MGA Fake Love Performance."

This was an unfortunate incident, that's for sure. Nevertheless, it's still great to see this much-awaited collaboration. Fans were ecstatic about the performance anyway:

Maybe this performance will open doors for a future song collaboration? We're crossing our fingers and toes!
