On his road to recovery from early stage nose cancer, national badminton star, Lee Chong Wei, has opened up about his battle in a recent interview with The Straits Times.
The badminton player returned to Malaysia this month after undergoing treatment in Taiwan for two months. He’s currently recovering well and is eager to head back to the badminton court.
Speaking about his battle with nose cancer, he said, "It came as a shock to me, but it was fated and I have accepted it. No one expects things like this. When it was confirmed, I sought treatment and now we just have to see how it goes. But I feel optimistic and will adhere to doctors' orders to overcome this."

At the moment, the national hero feels fine and is resting. He said that there are no current plans to return to Taiwan for a follow-up as his reports are provided to his doctors there on a regular basis.
As he’s in recovery, he stated that his immune system levels are rather low and there’s a need to take precaution as he’s susceptible to picking up infections. Due to this, only a limited amount of people has been allowed to visit him.
When asked when the badminton player would return to court, he said, "It all depends on what the doctors say, but really not before next year, there’s a possibility in February but then again it depends on my progress and response to the treatment."
"I must thank all of you for your messages towards my wellbeing as well as on my birthday. More importantly, thank you for being understanding. As you all know, I’m a fighter on the court and please pray that I win this off-court battle. Your prayers provide me with strength," he added.
We're wishing a full recovery for Lee Chong Wei!
