While Ryan Reynolds may portray one of the best anti-heroes around, he’s a real hero in real life and his recent good deed proves just that!

Recently, a woman in Vancouver, Canada lost her precious teddy bear that held a recording of her late mother’s voice, when her bag was stolen.

What Mara Soriano didn’t expect was for the Deadpool star to come to her rescue and help find her lost “MamaBear”.

The unfortunate incident was first shared by CBC’s Deborah Goble who tweeted a photo of the bear saying, “If you see this missing bear in the west end please email Deborah.Goble@cbc.ca. It was in a herscel back pack when stolen along with an iPad. Mara, the owner says it has her mom’s voice inside saying, ‘I love you I’m proud of you, I’ll always be with you.’ Her mom died last year.”

Mara’s backpack, which held the Build-A-Bear teddy bear - equipped with a voice box that contained the message from her mother Marilyn; and some other electronics, was stolen while she and her fiancé were moving apartments recently.

The woman’s mother had passed away from cancer in June 2019 at the age of 53 and left behind the recording of her saying “I love you” in her native language of the Philippines.

Once the city heard about the missing message, they immediately sprang into action.

Ryan picked up on Deborah’s tweet and offered a reward of $5,000 (RM15,829) for the return of the bear saying, “Vancouver: $5,000 to anyone who returns this bear to Mara. Zero questions asked. I think we all need this bear to come home.”

And his reward worked!

After Ryan offered the reward, his tweet went viral and his efforts proved to be worthwhile as the loving token from Mara’s mum came back to her without a scratch on it.

Well… the bear was missing its spectacles but other than that, the bear was basically unharmed!

We’re so happy that this story had a happy ending and that MamaBear was able to make its way back home to Mara!

Ryan’s effort in getting the word out and offering a reward definitely helped in this search-and-rescue mission! Looks like it’s just another day in our favourite anti-hero’s life!
