Julia first teased fans with the tracklist of her new EP a few days ago and predictably, fans were excited about the collaboration between the singer and Selena.
Selena has always been candid about her struggles of living with anxiety and depression, and a song titled, “Anxiety,” had fans a flutter. Recently, the singer checked herself into a treatment facility after suffering an emotional breakdown.
According to E! News, the singer was “doing much better” and was feeling “refreshed and is in a better head space” after the incident.
Because of this, it makes her collaboration with Julia on “Anxiety” a lot more significant. The lyrics of the song gets real as it looks into the personal struggles of living with anxiety and depression:
“My friends, they wanna take me to the movies,
I tell ‘em to **** off, I’m holding hands with my depression,
And right when I think I’ve overcome it,
Anxiety starts kicking in to teach that **** a lesson.”
“But all my friends, they don’t know what it’s like, what it’s like,
They don’t understand why I can’t sleep through the night,
And I thought that I could take something to fix it,
****, I wish it, I wish it was that simple, ah.”
Selena announced the new song collaboration by sharing a sweet photo of her and Julia on Instagram with the caption:
“My sweet soul sister. Julia you have been a huge part of my life. You have taught me how to have courage when I have self doubt. This song is extremely close to my heart as I’ve experienced anxiety and know a lot of my friends do too. You’re never alone if you feel this way. The message is much needed and I really hope you guys like it!”
