2018 has been crazy. Rumours, speculations and gossip have been making their way around and no one is safe, not even Shawn Mendes.
Back in May, Shawn and Hailey Baldwin attended the glamorous Met Gala together. And as always, the rumour mill was working overtime. Speculations about the nature of the couple made its way around. Were they or weren't they together? As there was never any official confirmation from either party, we were all left wondering.

A month after the Met Gala went down, Hailey was engaged to Justin Bieber. Even then, there was no mention of Shawn and Hailey as an official ex-couple! Shawn is done hiding all that.

The singer was honoured by Rolling Stone and he's currently gracing the cover of their latest issue. In the issue, Shawn speaks of that messy and confusing experience.
The article reads: "He acknowledges they were more than friends, but he's still reluctant to call it a relationship: 'I don't even wanna put a title on it. I think it was more of a zone of limbo.'"
So, not an official relationship, but there were something more between Shawn and Hailey… And how did news of Hailey's engagement sit with the singer? He's not holding a grudge.
"I get it, you know. I texted Hailey 'Congratulations,' and I'm really happy for them. She's still one of the fucking coolest people ever - she's not just a beautiful person visually, but she's one of the most beautiful hearts I've ever met."

He went on to say, "I think I'm an idiot to not, you know… But you can't control your heart."
Well, that clears that up.
It really makes you wonder what happened between Shawn and Hailey, but for now, we're happy as long as Shawn is happy.
