It’s a sad day in the world with the news of the passing of Taiwanese-Canadian actor Godfrey Gao.

According to reports, the model/actor collapsed during the filming of a reality show in China and passed away after more than two hours of effort to revive him.
His death was confirmed by his agency, JetStar Entertainment, who released a statement on the passing of the 35-year-old.
“He has unfortunately left us, leaving us extremely shocked and saddened, and we are still unable to accept this,” the statement read. “His family has rushed to the scene. Please understand Godfrey’s family is experiencing deep sorrow and grief, and avoid excessive disturbance to them.”

Chinese media reported that Godfrey was in Ningbo to film an episode of Chase Me – which is a reality show that pits two teams against each other in physical challenges that take place at night; when the actor suddenly slowed and fell to the ground at around 2am on Wednesday (27th November) morning.
“The show’s medical staff began rescue efforts right away, and then rushed him to the hospital,” the agency said. “After more than two hours of effort, the hospital announced that Gao died suddenly of cardiogenic shock. For this we feel incomparable pain and extreme sorrow.”

Fans of the model/actor raised many concerns about the safety measures surrounding the reality show with a few who witnessed the incident saying that Godfrey’s heart had stopped beating for a few minutes before it resumed and he was rushed to the hospital.
Unfortunately, he did not regain consciousness and passed away.
All over social media, fans and celebrities alike are sharing their love and shock over the passing of Godfrey.
The model/actor first made his debut in the public eye as the first Asian male model to appear in Louis Vuitton’s ad campaign in 2011. He then went on to appear in Hollywood movies like The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones as Magnus Bane.
Godfrey went on to star as the main lead in several drama series in Taiwan and mainland China, and he also appeared in several feature films in his time.
