Ariana Grande only has one thing to say to her ponytail: thank u, next.

The singer's iconic ponytail has been its own pop-culture force. The words "Ariana" and "ponytail" have never been far-apart. She has very rarely deviated from the hairstyle over the course of her music career. And when she does, people notice.

Ariana posted a captionless picture of herself with shorter hair and a bunny filter on Instagram. While we haven't seen the singer out and about with her new, shorter hairstyle since the post, it's safe to say that the ponytail is gone.

Media outlets have cited her recent breakup with Pete Davidson as the reason for giving up her ponytail. Elle, US Weekly and other news outlet are calling it a "post-breakup haircut." Buzzfeed reported that some fans were wondering if the new look could be a sign that she is going to be experimenting with a new aesthetic for her forthcoming album.

So what happens when Ariana cuts off her iconic ponytail? The internet reacts.

What do you think about Ariana's new hair?
