Yes, you read that right – Henry Cavill could have been the iconic Edward Cullen.

Author of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer once envisioned Henry as her “perfect Edward” in her 2007 blog post but was disappointed to find that the then 24-year-old Henry wasn’t the right age for her teenage vampire protagonist.

Speaking on a podcast called Happy Sad Confused, Henry stated that he wasn’t even aware of Stephenie’s personal casting choice.

“I didn’t know about them wanting to cast me and the internet wasn’t quite a tool that it is now and so I only found out afterwards,” he shared.

So what was his reaction to hear that he could’ve played the part of Edward Cullen?

“I was like, ‘Oh OK. That would’ve been cool!’” he said.

Of course it wasn’t a direct competition to play Edward as Henry never auditioned for the part but he did mention how he lost out on playing Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

It’s okay Henry! The whole world is eagerly waiting for your return as Superman!
