Whether you love her or hate her, Kylie Jenner has once again made it as the world’s youngest self-made billionaire on Forbes’ annual list!

For the second year running, the 22-year-old makeup-mogul has topped the highly coveted “World’s Billionaire” list this time with her Kylie Cosmetics empire valued at $1 billion (RM4.3 billion).

Forbes’ recently released list sees Kylie maintaining her position after first entering the list back in March 2019 where she dethroned Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg – who reached billionaire status at 23-years-old, as the youngest self-made billionaire.

Last year, Kylie’s status caused much controversy as many claimed that her wealthy, reality TV-bolstered and family background was the reason for her success.

However Forbes’ defended her position by saying, “Yes, self-made (despite a lot of help from her famous family, she didn’t inherit her business – she built it). And yes, billionaire (she’s worth $1 billion).”

In an interview with Interview Germany, Kylie also defended her self-made title by saying:

“There’s really no other word to use other than self-made because that is the truth. That is the category that I fall under. Although, I am a special case because before I started Kylie Cosmetics, I had a huge platform and lots of fans.

I did not get money from my parents past the age of 15. I used 100% of my own money to start the company, not a dime in my bank account is inherited… and I am very proud of that.”

When Kylie Cosmetics first launched in 2015, her first lipstick kit sold out in minutes! But it was only when she sold a $600 million (RM2.6 billion) majority stake in her company to Coty Inc. that her wealth spiked and cemented her a position on Forbes’ list.

Kylie’s brand is now valued at $1.2 billion (RM5.2 billion).

Speaking to publication last year, she said: “I had such a strong reach before I was able to start anything… I didn’t expect anything. I did not foresee the future. But [the recognition] feels really good. That’s a nice pat on the back.”

Kylie may be the youngest on the list but she is only one of 10 other billionaires under the age of 30 that includes Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel, 29 - $1.9 billion (RM8.2 billion).

Congratulations Kylie!
