We knew this day would come…but we didn’t expect it to be so soon!

Spider-Man star Tom Holland has spent the last six years of his life playing the web-slinging superhero for Sony and Marvel Studios. And being the huge Marvel fans we are, we want him to be Peter Parker for as long as he’s alive –but nothing lasts forever sadly…

In a recent interview with People to promote Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom shared that he wants to focus on his personal life more in the future.

"I've loved every minute of it. I've been so grateful to Marvel and Sony for giving us the opportunity and keeping us on and allowing our characters to progress. It's been amazing," he said. "And that's why for me, I don't want to say goodbye to Spider-Man – but I feel like we might be ready to say goodbye to Spider-Man."

"I don't want to be responsible for holding back the next young person that comes in who deserves it just as much so." he added.

Despite his statement, there is no official announcement that the actor is stepping away from his work with Marvel just yet.

That being said, the 25-year-old actor could see a future where he says goodbye to his Spider-Man role sooner, rather than later. Could that exit come after Spider-Man: No Way Home? Maybe.

Tom went on to share that it is time for a change for the Spider-Man role – he'd like to see a different character other than Peter Parker in the red spidey suit once he’s through with the role.

"I would love to see a future of Spider-Man that's more diverse – maybe you have a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman," he said. "We've had three Spider-Mans in a row; we've all been the same. It'd be nice to see something different." Yes to that!

Though it doesn’t look like Tom’s going to retire from acting anytime soon, the actor shared that he’s ready to take a break from acting and focusing on his off-screen life and even *gasp* starting a family of his own!

"I've spent the last six years being so focused on my career. I want to take a break and focus on starting a family and figuring out what I want to do outside of this world," he said.

"I love kids. I can't wait to be a dad – I can wait and I will, but I can't wait! If I'm at a wedding or a party, I'm always at the kids' table hanging out. My dad's been such a great role model for me. I think I've got that from him. So I think I'd be a primary school teacher or something like that."

Well, until then we can still see him as Spider-Man in No Way Home, which is out now BTW! And…his new upcoming movie Uncharted, comes out in theatres on February 18, 2022. He was also recently cast as Fred Astaire in an untitled biopic about the famous American actor.

We’ll take as much Tom as we can while we can!

How long do you want Tom Holland to play Spider-Man? Let us know!
