It’s been a heavy week for Spider-Man and Marvel fans after the news that our favourite web-swinger will be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

When news first broke that Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige would no longer be involved in producing Sony’s Spider-Man series, it lead everyone to believe that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man would no longer be part of the MCU.

Fans were almost at the point of rioting (no joke) and many petitions were made to get Spider-Man back to Marvel.

While fans were in a frenzy, the cast of Spider-Man, including Tom, were silent over the Sony-Disney dispute. Until now.

During Disney’s D23 expo, Tom opened up to Entertainment Weekly and People about the whole fiasco saying, “Basically, we’ve made five great movies.”

He went on to explain:

“It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

Kevin also chimed in saying, “It was never meant to last forever. We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that.”

As Tom left the stage, he said, “It’s been a crazy week, but I want you to know I am grateful from the bottom of my heart and I love you 3,000”

Well, that’s that. We’re sad but looking forward to Tom continuing to play our favourite friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man. What are your thoughts on the whole matter?
