You might be thinking, what’s so bad about fake apps right? I mean, essentially, they’re just the knock-off version of the real thing. It lets you enjoy all the benefits at half or no price at all!

While that’s true, it isn’t the whole truth. By downloading an app from an unknown developer, you’re letting them do whatever they like with your phone.

When you have a fake app, hackers can access your phone camera remotely and take photos. They can also track your location, record any passwords you enter for other accounts, and even send text messages from your phone!

Here are a couple of tips to expertly avoid fake apps and only download safe original ones.

  1. Carefully Scan The Search Results When You Use The Search Bar To Find Apps

When you use the search bar to find apps, carefully sift through the search results. Sometimes, fake apps use the same thumbnails as the original one.

  1. Take A Closer Look At The App's Name And The Name Of It's Developer

The name of the app or the name of it’s developer can be a dead giveaway. Don’t download any apps that have weird names. One example is Swiftkey and Swift Keyboard. The developer for SwiftKey is Microsoft, while Swift Keyboard was developed by Designer Superman.

  1. The App's Number Of Downloads

Take a peek at its downloads number. You can tell if the app is real or fake based on how many times its been downloaded. The real version of WhatsApp has been downloaded thousands of times, because most of the world is using this app. A fake and lesser known app wouldn’t have been downloaded as many times

  1. Read The App's Description And Take A Look At It's Sceenshots

Original apps would use standard terms, be organized and use easily understood words in its description. A fake app's description might have typos, be unorganized and harder to understand.

  1. Read some reviews.

When a lot of people use the app, there would definitely be some reviews. If the app has no reviews or a lot of negative reviews, avoid downloading it.

There you go people! Take good care of your phone, don't let hackers watch you.

Save that for the FBI. And give them a lil wink
