We hear stories everyday about pets being abandoned at animal shelters around the world. As much as we’d like to give them good homes, sometimes we can’t, due to various circumstances that may make us unable to take care of a pet.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t still help them out. Animal shelters are constantly in need of many things, from basic supplies to recognition. Here are three things you could to help your local animal shelter out.
#1 Donating basic needs

With more and more pets constantly coming in to shelters, there’s always a need for basic supplies like food, beds and toys. You could donate these, and you could also help provide treats, which can be used to train the animals.
#2 Using your skills

Even if you can’t donate physical goods, you could use your occupational skills to help out a shelter. For example, avid photographers could contribute photos of the pets for websites and social media pages.
#3 Hit ‘share’

If physical goods and time are out of the question, you can still help by spreading the word. Animal shelters often post pictures of their available pets on social media, along with their stories. One click is all that’s needed for the right person to see it, and perhaps give the creature a home.
