The Heat Isn’t Fun. This Is How You Can Turn On The Aircond But Still Save Money

We like aircond, but we also like money.

It’s a weird time of the year when people would fry eggs under the sun because the weather is JUST. THAT. HOT.

If you’ve got an aircond, the first thought is to simply leave it on for the rest of the day—problem solved. However, when you’re the one paying the bills, suddenly it’s not so fun anymore.

It’s not all sweat and gloom though.

There are ways to use the air conditioner without maxing out on electricity.

#1 The magic number is 24, 25 and 26

It’s tempting to blast the aircond at 17˚C, but the lower the temperature, the more power your aircond will need. According to experts, anything between 24˚C to 26˚C is good enough to keep you cool and comfy.

#2 Get rid of hot air first

Before you turn on the air conditioner, open the door and window of your room and turn on the fan. Leave it this way for about 15 minutes so that the fan can blow out hot air that is trapped in your room.

After that, close the door and window, and turn on the air conditioner as usual. Doing this helps to cool your room faster and that means your air conditioner won’t have to work as hard (read: use too much electricity).

If you’ve got an aircond with wifi and app control (yes, they exist!), you can turn on the air conditioner remotely 15 minutes before you’re home. That way, you’ll get to go back to a space that’s already cooled down. Then, just turn it off, keep the doors and windows closed, and let the fan circulate the cool air that’s inside.

#3 The aircond and fan are besties

Use the aircond AND fan at the same time?! Wouldn’t that just mean paying double? Well, not if you do it the right way.

Although the air conditioner gives us cool air, it doesn’t help to circulate that cool air around the room—you need a fan for that. There are two tricks to note:

  • If you’ve got a table or wall fan, point the head downwards. Cool air ‘sinks’, so the fan will help to ‘pick’ it up and quickly ‘spread’ it upwards throughout the room.
  • Once the room becomes cooler, you no longer need the air conditioner to be as cold anymore. Turn up the air conditioner’s temperature to save electricity, and let the fan continue circulating the cool air instead.

#4 Look for an aircond that has inverter technology

All air conditioners are NOT built the same. The next time you’re shopping for an aircond, look for one with the “inverter” label—it’s more cost-effective and quieter. How?

An inverter air conditioner can regulate the speed of its motor based on the room’s temperature. When a room becomes cool enough, the inverter aircond knows to lower the speed of its motor to save energy.

On the other hand, a non-inverter aircond will run at full speed, then shut off when the room gets cool enough, and turn on again when it’s hotter. This repetitive on-off process uses a lot more energy and creates noise.

What’s a recommended inverter air conditioner?

There are many models of inverter airconds available, with one of them being the Panasonic nanoe™ X Inverter aircond series.

A Panasonic X-Premium Inverter air conditioner can save up to 59%* on energy and RM275.98* per year. You can use that savings to buy many shots of espresso—more than even Pedro Pascal can handle!

Money won’t be the only thing the aircond helps you save—it can save your health too. The X-Premium Inverter series comes with a nanoe™ X technology that provides 24-hour nanoe™ X protection and keeps the nasties away all while keeping you cool and relaxed at home. You can also turn on the nanoe™ X feature WITHOUT turning on the cooling function.

It gets cooler. 😉 The aircond comes with a built in wifi, which allows you to control it via the Panasonic Comfort Cloud app on your phone. This means you can turn on your aircond literally anywhere, anytime! It’ll also keep you updated with error notifications in case there’s a need for troubleshooting.

Keep cool with Panasonic nanoe™ X Inverter air conditioners

You can get yours at the nearest Panasonic authorised dealers or Panasonic online shop. With each purchase, you’ll also get to enjoy an extended 1+1 year warranty for aircond general parts! Terms and conditions apply.
