A man in eastern China recently received a fine for scratching his face!

It was reported that a traffic camera that uses artificial intelligence had captured the man scratching his face.

According to the Jilu Evening Post, Liu was driving in Jinan, eastern Shandong province, when he raised his hand to scratch his face while he passed a traffic camera.

He then received a notification that informed him that he had violated a road law by “driving while holding a phone.” A surveillance picture of his “offence” was also attached with the notification.

Lui was ordered to pay a 50 yuan (RM30) fine and was told that he would receive two points on his license for the “offence.”

The driver posted on Sina Weibo about the incident and said, “I often see people online exposed for driving and touching [others’] legs, but this morning, for touching my face, I was also snapped ‘breaking the rules’!”

Attaching the surveillance picture, he added that “no one would help him” over the phone and would be heading to the authorities to sort out the amusing situation.

According to The Global Times, the traffic authorities in question have now cancelled his ticket and informed him that “the traffic surveillance system automatically identifies a driver’s motion and then takes a photo.”

That is why Lui’s face scratching had been mistaken for taking a phone call.

We can’t help but to laugh at this hilarious and unfortunate situation! What’s the weirdest fine you’ve ever heard of?
