From Taribo West’s green strands and Romania’s bleached bonces to Neymar’s courgetti cut, the World Cup has long hosted absurd hairstyles

Thankfully, England’s 2018 team will not be adding to the tally as they have taken the liberty to invite their personal barbers to Russia.

The Three Lions are getting into shape in a specially-built salon inside the team hotel in Repino, complete with a door sign and England badge. The hotel is fitted with pump-action professional barber chairs, two large mirrors, a sink and a small couch for the million-dollar-worth stars to sit on while they wait for their turn.

Among the three barbers flown out are Simon Townley, an award-winning hairdresser who cuts Gary Cahill and Phil Jones’ hair; and Justin Carr, who is from London, and has been styling Dele Alli, Kyle Walker, Danny Welbeck, Kieren Trippier and Jordan Henderson; and Daniel Johnson.

Simon revealed that he had to brave through Russian airport security to bring his own brand of scissors for the team. “The country is so security-conscious, so it was hard work getting all the scissors through,” he said.

We certainly hope this helps the team perform their very best!
