Ramadan 2018 is finally here and we have 7 Ramadan puns to celebrate this joyous occasion and help fill you in on some fun Ramadan facts you might’ve not known!
1. Ramadan approached us really ‘fast’

And never at a specific time. Every year, Muslims determine the first day of Ramadan by observing the moon. Some may forecast it by calculating in advance but at the end of the day, the moon always tells us the exact date!
2. That’s ‘sa-lat’ of prayers
Besides the daily five prayers, Muslims also pray tarawih, a prayer that can be performed between 16 to 20 ra’kaats. This prayer is performed after the breaking of fast and may take up to one to two hours in the mosque and usually ends by midnight.
3. Only during Ramadan to I have a ‘date’ every night
It is Islamic tradition to break fast with a date. If you haven’t tried one before, then you’re totally missing out! No other fruit can compare to the sweetness of a date palm fruit!
4. We need to eat healthy to get back into a ‘mo-slim’ shape

Some Muslim’s hope that they can shed a few kilograms during the fasting month. The practice of fasting during Ramdan is very similar to the intermittent fasting, health coaches encourage!
5. You can donate your iftar leftovers to ‘za-kats’ to score some extra deeds AND some fridge space!

Many Muslims pay their zakat during Ramadan because of the increased reward, though zakat can be paid at any time of the year. And yes, if you tend to buy too much food during iftar, donating it to the neighbourhood cat can definitely free up some space in the fridge!
6. Ramadan is the month of giving. Rewards for charity are multiplied, so it pays to be ‘jannah-erous’!

The Muslim’s holy book, the Quran generally uses the term Jannah symbolically to refer to paradise.
7. Before you know it, we’ll be ‘Rama-done’, so don’t delay in earning some good deeds today!
