There are two types of people when it comes to opening presents, the type that takes their time and the type that simply can’t wait to open them. Then there is this man that kept his present unopened for 47 years!

Adrian Pearce received a gift 47 years ago when he was 17 years old when he was a high school student in Toronto. His first serious girlfriend Vicki ended their relationship right after she gave him the gift.
Pearce being upset and angry went home after and “fired” the gift under the Christmas tree. “After my family opened their gifts at Christmas, there was still one Christmas gift left, and it’s the gift this girl Vicki had given me. I told my family I’m never going to open that present.”

And he stayed true to his words and never opened the gift after 47 years! His wife apparently don’t mind and his children even asked if they could open it many times but Pearce said no.
Pearce said, “I kept it initially because I guess I had hopes that we would get back together and open it together. Now it’s just become a habit after 47 years of looking at it and having the pleasure of not opening it,”

He even tried to reach his ex Vicki this year but failed. He is considering opening it in another 3 years, which would mark the 50th anniversary of receiving the gift and is thinking of having a contest to guess what’s under the wrapping!
There will be a fee to enter the contest and all proceeds would go to charity! How does he resist the temptation to open the gift though??
