Oh boy… We all know how hard it can be to pull ourselves away from our phones and this teenage gorilla is going through the same exact problems as his human counterpart.
Amare has been visitors’ favorite at Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago, for his friendly demeanor and most recently, his interest in joining visitors for a selfie photo.
However, things have not been so cute for Amare as he is so addicted to his visitors’ smart devices that he is completely oblivious towards his primate peers.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Amare was once so engrossed in peep into his visitors’ phones that he did not notice another gorilla charging at him inside the enclosure.
The Lincoln Park Zoo authorities have been concerned about Amare’s behavior and are taking steps to reduce his screen time. They rule out his behavior as a “cyclical phenomenon” which happens more severely when visitors show him their phones which further increases the ape’s addiction.
Currently, they have put a rope between the glass partition and the visitors. In spite of this, Amare can be seen getting by some smartphones sometimes. Whenever zoo officials notice it, they gently intervene and explain the situation to visitors.

Amare’s definitely not your common gorilla but we might be just as addicted to our smartphones as he is towards his visitors’ devices.
