Unless you’re flying business class, flights are pretty uncomfortable. Flights require you to sit in tiny seats, for an extended amount of time, in a closed space with a tonne of other passengers who more often than not, don’t understand the concept of personal space.
Well, passengers of a recent Transavia flight were subjected to even worse circumstances.
The flight, which was heading to the Spanish holiday island of Gran Canaria from the Netherlands was forced to make an emergency landing when passengers started complaining about the smell of their fellow passenger.

Apparently, the man smelled so bad that those sitting nearby him started throwing up and fainting. That escalated quickly. According to the other passengers, the man smelt like he hadn’t bathed in weeks.

The Transavia flight crew tried to “quarantine” him in the washroom of the Boeing 737 before the pilots were forced to divert the flight to Faro in Southern Portugal for an emergency landing.
According to another passenger, the stench of the man was “unbearable”. He said “It was like he hasn’t washed himself for several weeks. Several passengers got sick and had to puke.” Wow.
Transavia confirmed the emergency landing, contributing the diversion to “medical reasons”. Though a spokeperson for the airline did say “The aeroplane diverted because of medical reasons, but it is indeed right that he smelled quite a bit.”
So, moral of the story, please bathe regularly and wear deodorant. And if you think you still smell, be glad to know that atleast there's no way you could smell anything like this guy.
