Wherever you go in Malaysia, you’ll definitely see this very familiar sign. In hotels, hospitals, apartments, etc., there is no shortage of the “No durians allowed” sign, and for good reason.

As we all know, the King Of Fruits comes with a very strong smell of its own that is not always welcomed into public buildings. And now, it seems like the durian isn’t even allowed in space, at least according to a sci-fi series called The Expanse.

During a recent episode on the sci-fi series, the very familiar sign was spotted on one of the space-age trains on Mars.

While many may not have noticed the slightly blurry sign, as Malaysians, we definitely recognised it straight away.

Yup! That’s a “No Durians” sign on a futuristic train in a series that’s set hundreds of years in the future! LOL!

The sign was seen in the background of a scene that features one of the series’ lead characters on board a train in Mars.

While you may have blinked and missed the sign, a Singaporean Redditor’s keen eyes were fast and sharp enough to catch the sign in action!

He tweeted:

The Expanse’s producer, Breck Eisner tweeted back to confirm that the sign does indeed say “No Durians”.

This is not the first time a Malaysian fruit has been featured in a space/futuristic series.

Earlier this year, Another Life also featured a strange “alien fruit” on one of its episodes, which turned out to be rambutan!

While we can’t stop giggling, it’s nice to know that our local fruits are making an impact, even in space!

Are you a durian lover? Did you catch the sign in the show? Let us know!
