While Datuk Lee Chong Wei may have officially retired from the badminton world, it doesn’t mean that we can’t still recognise his feats of glory.
And the BrandLaureate Book of World Records has done just that.

Recently, the national badminton legend was recognised by The BrandLaureate Book of World Records for being the “Only world’s badminton legend to ever hold world No. 1 ranking for 348 weeks (6 years and 8 months, from year 2000-2019).”
In a post thanking the World’s Brands Foundation for the recognition, LCW challenges fellow Malaysians to beat his record.
“Terima Kasih ‘The BrandLaureate Book of World Records’ for the award. Anugerah ini sangat bermakna terhadap saya,” he wrote. “Saya amat berharap, pemain yang bakal pecah record saya ini nanti pun anak Malaysia, yg lagi terrer, lagi mantap, maybe lagi ensem.”
With 69 championships under his belt and being top-ranked in the men’s single’s event for 199 consecutive weeks, the three-time Olympic silver medalist’s record is surely one tough act to follow.
But we’re hoping that LCW’s wish will come true and a Malaysian will be able to make him and us proud!
