17-year-old Luqman Hakim Shamsudin from Kelantan has recently been signed on for a five-year deal by Belgium club, KV Kortrjik.
At a recent press conference, Cardiff City FC club owner Tan Sri Vincent Tan said that the teenager would begin training with the club in January 2020.
Upon reaching 18-years of age in March, Luqman will then sign on to be the first-ever professional Malaysian player in the Europe Top Division.
The Belgian Pro League has been ranked as the 10th best league in Europe by the Union of European Football Associations (Uefa).
Speaking to reporters, Luqman said that he would make use of this opportunity by doing his best.
“I have to prepare myself mentally and physically to be there,” he said. “Of course I will do my best. It is my dream. I will seize it.”
While we’re all super proud of Luqman’s achievements, it’s the Belgian club’s welcome message to the teen that has everyone in stitches for being excellent sports!
KV Kortrjik’s hilarious tweet had Malaysians rushing in to reply and comment.
Congratulations to Luqman once again for making it as Malaysia’s first ever under-18 pro-footballer in the Belgian league! We know he’ll make us proud!
