Are you ready to go on an adventure with Gollum?
Daedalic Entertainment recently announced that a new upcoming action-adventure game based on Lord of the Rings is currently in the works!
Set to be released in 2021 for PC and “all relevant console platforms at that time,” the game will focus on Gollum and his journey to finding the One Ring.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be a narrative adventure that will be based purely on J.R.R Tolkien’s books. The game will be the first in a series of new Middle-earth games that Daedalic is working on.
The game will follow Gollum’s journey through the books but will also “explore new events and details.”

While many LoTR games that popped up over the years have mainly been based on the movie trilogy, Daedalic’s CEO and co-founder, Carsten Fichtelmann, says that the game will “tell Gollum’s story from a perspective never seen before, in any storytelling medium, all the while staying true to the legendary books of J.R.R. Tolkien.”
Thanks to a new partnership between Daedalic and Middle-earth Enterprises – the company that owns the rights to LoTR and The Hobbit; the upcoming Gollum game will be just the first fame produced as part of the deal. That means, more games are being planned!

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Carsten explained why Gollum was chosen as the main character in the game.
“You already have that big conflict in the character, two voices talking to you continuously, which means there is a good reason there are decisions to make in the game: the Smeagol decisions or the Gollum decision.”
