As if we don’t already have enough WhatsApp chat messages, Facebook introduced “WhatsApp Business” into the world on 1 August. With over 1.5 billion users, the company has started a new scheme for businesses to send content and connect with their customers.
Facebook stated that this would be a solution for companies seeking for more powerful tools on WhatsApp. It would also be a fresh way for interested customers to converse with companies after viewing an ad.
The “WhatsApp Business” tool has been tested with over 90 companies such as Uber and Singapore Airlines. Companies can respond to customers for free unless they do it after 24 hours, which would incur costs. They better not ‘bluetick’ their customers.
“You will continue to have full control over the messages you receive,” Facebook assured WhatsApp users. Messages will also be encrypted end-to-end and users are able to block messages from businesses if they wish to do so.
This is now only available to selected companies who need a managing tool for customer communications before slowly opening it up to more businesses.
