The end of an era is upon us. The iTunes era, at least.
After 18 years, Apple will be saying goodbye to iTunes.

During Apple’s annual developers conference recently, it was officially announced that the company will be doing away with iTunes and breaking it up into three separate macOS apps.
The three new apps that will be introduced with the macOS 10.15/macOS Catalina update are Podcasts, TV, and Music apps.
With iTunes being “neglected and outdated for quite some time,” the new shift definitely makes sense.
The shift from iTunes to the new update is already taking place as is seen with Apple Podcasts finally making its way to macOS devices.

The three new apps will feature colourful sidebars and clear menu bars that ensure easy navigation for users.
Apple Music will solely focus on music and offer personalised recommendations for users, while Apple Podcasts will remain dedicated to the podcast listening experience.
Apple has also noted that it’ll be introducing a new machine learning feature along with the podcast app. The new feature will index shows to ensure that users will be able to search for content more easily.

As for the TV app, Apple’s exclusive content will be included along with other providers’ shows such as Showtime and HBO. The TV app, will also be where Apple TV Plus’ service will exist.
If you’re wondering how you’ll sync your iPhones and iPods without iTunes, the company has assured users that syncing will happen through the sidebar in Finder instead.
What are your thoughts on iTunes being retired?
