Nintendo Switch Is Sold Out Everywhere And Won’t Restock Soon

Staying home might be hard but it’s easier when you have something to distract yourself with, and many people chose Nintendo Switch to do that. But there’s a problem…

The demand for the console has been on the rise worldwide as citizens are staying home to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

With the latest Animal Crossing: New Horizons game gaining more popularity at the same time, everyone is trying to get the gaming console to play at home… but production is ramping up too!

The console that was first released back in 2017 is gaining more attention with friends and family posting their gaming experience at home and the console is sold out everywhere, and it’s not restocking anytime soon.

“Nintendo Switch hardware is selling out at various retail locations in the US, but more systems are on the way. We apologize for any inconvenience,” Nintendo said in a statement.

“April is going to be a fairly rough month in terms of supply,” Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad said. “It’s not going to recover.”

“We think that by May, and especially June – the end of Q2 – things will be back to normal with supply,” he said. “And that’s because right now, production is ramping up. So we’ll start to see the effects of that come late May, June – certainly by the end of Q2.”

So if you’re looking to get a Nintendo Switch and play some Animal Crossing during this stay home period… well you’ll have to wait till at least the end of June or buy them at a higher price.

Retailer with stocks in hand have decided to take the opportunity to ramp up the price too, selling them for nearly double the original retail price.

The supplies for the system were also affected by the shutdown of manufacturing in China, which manufactures around 90% of the consoles, when “there were no consoles produced,” Ahmad said.

“Because of this initial impact in February, and the fact that sourcing every single part is going to be more difficult now, that is leading to some of the supply issues you’re seeing.”

Let’s hope the pandemic will get better globally and we’ll get to buy the console at a normal price once more!
