“We see the beta as an opportunity to conduct thorough testing that ensures cross-platform play is best on PlayStation, while being mindful about the user experience from both a technical and social perspective.”
PlayStation players have been kept locked into Sony’s closed system all this while, making it impossible for players’ progress and purchases to be transferred between PS4 and other platforms.

We don’t know how Sony is planning to take cross-play to the next level. but they will most likely take it one title at a time for now.
