Many people love Pokémon because they are cute but hardcore game fans love them for their gameplay… and now they are boycotting Pokémon!
The latest game, Pokémon Sword & Shield will be released on 15 November on Nintendo Switch and while the graphics have a major upgrade, the game is cutting down on the older Pokémon!
The total number of playable creatures will be limited to 400 in the new game, cutting out many fan-favourite Pokémon from older games like Dragonite, Mewtwo, Bulbasaur and Squirtle.
Producer Junichi Masuda said, “We knew at some point we weren’t going to be able to indefinitely keep supporting all of the Pokémon.”
“We just found that Sword and Shield would probably be a good point to go back and reevaluate what would be the best selection of Pokémon that appeal to the widest audience while keeping into consideration the balance of the battle system.”
And unlike older versions of the game, player’s reserve party will all receive experience instead just the pokemon that battled, which fans think will reduce the difficulty level, making it less challenging.
Pokémon Sword & Shield will take place in a new region called Galar, which is said to very clearly based on United Kingdom.
While the game will only feature regional Pokémon instead of the national dex, it will have online competitions available as well as Dynamaxing, a new feature that makes your Pokémon huge.
