In January, software developer Niantic warned players that Pokémon GO will no longer be supported on the iPhone 5 or 5c soon. And that day is on 28 February 2018. May it be remembered.
iPhone models 5 and below won’t be able to support the game from here on because in order to keep playing Pokémon GO, your device needs to be able to run iOS 11.
To be clear, it’s only iPhone 5 and below. Not the 5s, which should continue to work. You don’t need to be running iOS 11, but your device needs to have the ability to run it.
This is happening because Apple is doing something with their 32bit/64bit app submissions, and not because of Niantic. Though, this move does affect Pokémon GO.
Those wanting to take part in the Dratini-based Pokémon GO Community Day on 24 February will still be able to do that though. The change will only be implemented starting 28 February.
iPhone 5s or 6 users, beware—your time may come soon enough!
