As technology and social media advances, there have been many questions about what is real and what is fake. Information is being passed along at such an alarming rate, there’s barely any time to verify a news source.

Over in the Twitterverse, there’ve been many users who are simply retweeting articles or stories without actually having read the information prior to that or having verified the information.

Twitter however, aims to do something about this problem.

In an effort to curb misinformation and encourage meaningful discussion on the platform, Twitter is currently in the process of testing a new feature that will “prompt users to think before they tweet articles they haven’t read,” The Verge reports.

The test is currently only available to Androids users in English.

“Sharing an article can spark conversation, so you may want to read it before you Tweet it,” the platform’s official account tweeted. “To help promote informed discussion, we’re testing a new prompt on Android – when you Retweet an article that you haven’t opened on Twitter, we may ask if you’d like to open it first.”

So, if you’re an Android Twitter user, don’t be alarmed if you receive a prompt the next time you try to retweet an article!
