WhatsApp Is Letting You Specify Which Contacts Sees Your ‘Last Seen’ Update

A well-tailored privacy setting is always *chef’s kiss*

Have you always wanted to stay private from your co-workers but not seem too cold with your friends? Maybe pick and choose your online privacy among those distant relatives you barely see in a year?

Well, WhatsApp is updating their privacy settings to allow you to hide your “Last Seen” status from specific contacts that you choose! No more of those passive-aggressive complaints when you didn’t reply to their message within three minutes (seriously please don’t do that).

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature will be identified as “My Contacts Except…” and may be available soon for beta testers on the Privacy settings page. Currently, the only options for the Last Seen status updates are ‘Everyone’, ‘My Contacts’ and ‘Nobody’.

With this new update, users are able to have the option to exclude specific contacts from viewing their online status for privacy reasons but it will not prevent excluded contacts from seeing the user’s “About” page or profile picture.

Other new upcoming updates will be the Communities feature which enables people to bring together separate groups under one umbrella with a structure that works for them. This means that users can receive updates sent to the entire Community and easily organise smaller discussion groups.

Another great update will be a massive increase of file sharing capacity which will be raised to 2GB instead of the current 100MB limit. Finally!

Since plenty of people still use WhatsApp for work, this will be great to transfer projects seamlessly through the platform.

Currently there are no set dates for when each feature will be up on the platform but it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled! Comment down below which new WhatsApp feature you will be looking forward to the most!
