Whenever we think of short road trips, it’s often either Penang, Ipoh or Malacca for the food.
Unbeknownst to many of us though, there are other beautiful locations in our country waiting to be discovered. In fact, some of them will have you going, “How is this place not all over my Instagram feed yet?!”
Here are 12 of these ‘otherworldly’ places that you wouldn’t believe exist in Malaysia:
#1 Tasik Cermin (Ipoh)
This lake looks like something out of an international travel photobook, but it’s just located in Ipoh. It’s called Mirror Lake and you’ll understand why when you see the photos!
#2 Trong Leisure Farm (Ipoh)
Not far from Ipoh is a traditional-turned-leisure farm! It was initially a plain ol’ duck farm, until the owner decided to give it a makeover. The farm has over 60,000 little ducklings and you can even feed them! CUTE!
#3 Masjid Zahir (Kedah)
This beautiful mosque in Alor Setar, Kedah, is one of the grandest and oldest mosques in Malaysia. Built in 1912, it was even voted as the top 10 most beautiful mosques in the world!
#4 Ladang Madu Kelulut Ori Dukun Jaya (Kedah)
This bee farm located in Kedah is really colourful and filled with vibrant vibes! The art installations are Instagram-worthy too!
#5 Jalan Tan Hiok Nee (Johor)
Besides shopping and eating, this one particular street in Johor is also famous for its design and graffiti art!
#6 Tanjung Balau (Johor)
Tanjung Balau is a beach town in Johor and the open view of the beach is what distinguishes it from other beaches! The jetty is also a beautiful spot for selfies and photos.
#7 Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple (Johor)
This glass temple is listed as the first ever glass temple in the Malaysian Book of Records. It’s also the first glass Hindu temple in the world! A dazzling beauty, 90% of the temple is made of glass! Be careful not to break anything on your visit!
#8 Rainbow Waterfall, Sungai Lembing (Pahang)
This waterfall looks like something out of a fairytale, and the reason behind it is the rainbow that forms at the location. It’s magical. You can even catch the sunrise at the top of the hill!
#9 DESA Dairy Farm (Sabah)
You’d think this is something straight out of a dairy milk box illustration, but it’s actually located in Malaysia! The temperature is chilly but the view is definitely worth the cold!
#10 Tanjung Aru Beach (Sabah)
This beach is definitely one of the most beautiful beach when it comes to taking sunset photos! You can get a good photo effortlessly with the beautiful view!
#11 Tusan Beach (Sarawak)
Ever heard of the blue beach? We have one in Malaysia too! Tusan Beach is located in Sarawak and glows in luminous blue at night! The natural phenomenon is known as Blue Tears. It’s just as beautiful in the day time minus the blue glow.
#12 Gunung Mulu National Park (Sarawak)
Want to embrace nature and enjoy a stunning view at the same time? That’s what this national park offers! The view is breathtaking and if you’re lucky, you might even bump into a few animals during your trip!
So, why look for beautiful vacay spots outside of Malaysia when we have it all right in our backyard?
